OMNI is looking for a full-time Reporter (Arabic) who is a passionate and reliable self-starter. You can work independently, but also as part of a diverse newsroom.  You will be responsible for working on stories both in the studio, and out in the field for multiple media platforms.  

 

What you will do...

  • Pitch, chase, write, research and present compelling stories and segments on-air for the national newscast with an emphasis on content for the Arabic diaspora community in Canada
  • Monitor all news sources and be on top of breaking news and developing situations and assist in breaking news coverage
  • Increase OMNI’s digital footprint by creating daily news content for OMNI’s digital platforms including OMNI's website
  • Build a strong network within the Arabic-Canadian community
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of innovative journalists at OMNI and CityNews
  • Back-fill for Anchor shifts as needed, and work multiple shifts including evenings and weekends


What you will bring...

  • Speak fluently in Modern Arabic, read and write Arabic script, and have a minimum basic working knowledge of English
  • Adaptable and won’t allow obstacles to stop you from producing a compelling story
  • Highly attentive to detail and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Fluent in the digital news space with an ability to identify trending stories on social media
  • Experience with live news and field production are assets
  • A broadcast journalism diploma or equivalent experience
