Position Details | Reporting to the Director of Academic Technology, and working in close collaboration with Instructional Media Services (IMS) and Events and Scheduling, the Manager of Events and Support Services oversees support for special events, which may occur in-person, virtually, or hybrid, on the Wesleyan campus. Special events at Wesleyan include several day events like Homecoming and Reunion & Commencement, large conferences and symposia, and talks and lectures. Wesleyan University offers a creative and pragmatic liberal education that fosters personal development and social responsibility. Student employment can be an integral part of their educational experience. The Manager of Events and Support Services is responsible for the management of IMS student staff, which range from 25-35 a year, who provide classroom and special event support. Our student employment offers students opportunities for progressive skills development and advancement to managerial positions, and the Manager plays a pivotal role in their development. The Manager of Events and Support Services is also responsible for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate special event support, including Events and Conferences. Finally, the Manager must be available to work on short notice, and evening and weekend hours will be required. Core Responsibilities include:

Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree and at least two years’ experience in AV systems support or a related field or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Expertise designing and supporting complex AV systems. Excellent communication and customer service skills, the ability to problem-solve quickly and independently, and a flexible and can-do attitude. Ability to communicate technical issues to non-specialists. Proven ability to manage workers. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Proficiency with current Windows and Macintosh Operating Systems. Basic proficiency supporting IT networking. Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact openly with individuals of different backgrounds A professional work ethic and a willingness to maintain and increase applicable knowledge and skills. |
