Johns Hopkins University Research Technologist in Baltimore, Maryland
The Johns Hopkins University is seeking a highly motivated Research Technologist to join the Lee/Kim Laboratory at the Institute for Cellular Engineering and Department of Neurology. A major aim of our research is to develop a diabetes disease model using human pluripotent stem cells, and the Research Technologist will perform laboratory tasks and complete complex and routine assays following established protocols and procedures. The position requires a basic understanding of the theory behind experiments and the application of analytical skills to implement assigned projects and to identify and troubleshoot situations needing special attention. The successful applicant is one who has the ability to work well with a team of lab scientists as well as independently. It is expected that this person will make substantial scientific contributions to projects and be a strong participant in this work. This is an excellent opportunity to gain a broad range of technical experience and contribute to the laboratory's intellectual output.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Will work under supervision of a senior researcher, maintain and differentiate human pluripotent stem cells.
Will work under supervision of a senior researcher, handle mice (breeding, feeding, and surgical assistance).
Perform simple molecular work and immunostaining.
Perform routine lab tasks and manage lab activities to support experimental efforts.
Operate basic laboratory equipment such as a centrifuge, pH meter, analytical balance, incubator, spectrophotometer, electrophoresis equipment, light microscope, and/or utilize a laminar flow hood.
Use lab computers for data entry and inventorying.
Prepare lab stock solutions and reagents.
Perform other laboratory duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
Prior tissue culture experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with molecular biology and stem cell biology.
Some related post-undergraduate work experience.
A two-year commitment. This position is currently planned as a two-year job (subject to change).

Starting Salary Range: Min $15.50 - Max $26.00 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
