US:WI:MILWAUKEE at our FROEDTERT HOSPITAL facility. This job is ON -
SITE. FTE: 0.001000 Shift: Shift 4 - 12 hour shift - either 0700-1930 or
1900-0730. One shift a week as school/clinical schedule permits. Job
Summary: 5SE is a 27-bed internal medicine unit. Our patient population
includes: CHF, COPD, PNA, ESRD, DM, AMS, Bariatric, Cirrhosis,
Pancreatitis, and much more. Froedtert offers at least 9 weeks of
orientation with a dedicated preceptor/s and positive mentoring in a
hands-on learning environment. As an organization, you will find that we
do not have mandatory over-time (even at the height of the pandemic).
Skills that will be used in this unit include: Foley insertions, trach
cares/suctioning, G-Tubes, wound cares, NG insertions, PIV/central line
medications, PCA/CADD pumps and wound vacs. Under the supervision and
direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nurse Extern provides routine care
and assist patients with the following tasks related to the activities
of daily living. Responsible to the Patient Care Director of the
assigned unit and the RN\'s on duty on each assigned shift. Other duties
as assigned. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: A minimum experience of two acute
care medical-surgical clinical rotations (or one medical-surgical
rotation and one clinical rotation which is pertinent to the clinical
area applying for) from an accredited school of nursingis required, or
one medical - surgical clinical rotation along with pertinent work
experience is required. In addition, at least one of the clinical
rotations must have included medication administration. Nursing
courses/clinicals must have provided theory, knowledge and experience in
providing patient care, performing patient care procedures and
techniques, as well as knowledge and experience in performing physical
assessments, gathering of history data, development of nursing care
plans and medical record documentation. Experience of six months or more
as a nursing assistant is preferred. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Currently
enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing is required, or a graduate
of an accredited School of Nursing and waiting to retake the NCLEX
exam.SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION: Ability to read, write, understand,
perform simple arithmetic, and follow directions related to basic
