Becoming a nurse in our oncology department is a fulfilling and demanding career that requires a high-level of compassion, patience, and sensitivity, as well as excellent communication skills with critical thinking. The treatments that we utilize to treat patients require a great deal of detail, since it is critical to patient safety.

Additionally, members of the care team must be flexible, demonstrate openness toward diverse lifestyles, and have a passion for helping people. They must be prepared to meet the complex needs of their patients and maintain a calm, caring demeanor in an environment that can at times be unpredictable.

Required

• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
• For those hired into an RN position prior to January 1, 2009, it is encouraged to obtain a BSN. Certification in the specialty area of practice is also encouraged.
• For those hired into an RN position after January 1st, 2009, it is required to obtain a BSN within 10 years of start date.
• For those hired into an RN position after January 1st, 2015, it is required to obtain a BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Experience in the clinical area in which application has been made is desirable.
• Is a self-directed professional with the ability to make independent judgments directing patient care.
• Demonstrates ability in using the computer with Windows format preferred.
