Research Program Assistant
We are seeking a Research Program Assistant (RPA) will contribute field activities for an ongoing community health project. The project measures prevalence of HIV, health and social issues, health-related behaviors and access to services among people who use drugs in the Baltimore metro region. The successful candidate must be work independently in a team setting and interact professionally with a variety of people.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Recruitment and enrollment of research participants.
- Data collection activities such as participant screening, obtaining informed consent, conducting interviews using computerized interviewing tools.
- Data entry.
- HIV counseling and testing.
- Provide referrals to care.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated experience working independently and ability to work well in an unstructured environment as well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and protocol adherence, while maintaining flexibility to respond to multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated experience with study population and/or other marginalized and diverse populations.
- Familiarity with or interest in harm reduction and public health approaches to drug use and related risk reduction
- Understanding of data collection processes, strong organizational skills.
- Experience recruiting and interviewing study participants.
- Proficiency in computer systems and electronic communications.
- Comfortable with data entry and able to adapt to new software with appropriate training.
- Able to occasionally work flexible hours to accommodate protocol needs.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
- Some related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college courses.

Starting Salary Range: $15.25 - $23.00 HRLY ($31,720 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
Employee group: Full Time
Schedule: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, two weekday evenings with extended hours to 7pm, some Saturdays 9am-12pm
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
