Starting Salary Range: $125,000 - $145,000 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.

As our Energy Market and Operations Analytics Advisor, you will play a vital role in leading complex business intelligence and data analysis and fostering collaboration and partnership cross functionally.  In this position, you’ll lead the systematic evaluation and reporting on the performance and outcomes of MISO’s energy markets and system operations across multiple data domains and time horizons.

As part of a growing team, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate across the organization to deliver comprehensive storytelling on the performance of MISO’s markets and operations. You’ll identify and communicate trends and insights, drive data-informed decisions, and facilitate process improvements that enhance the value, efficiency, and reliability of our energy grid.

Within your first year as Energy Market and Operations Analytics Advisor, you’ll know you’re successful if you:

  • Effectively utilize advanced engineering and analytical techniques to assess the performance and outcomes of MISO’s markets and operations, conduct impact assessments, and support analytics-driven decision-making.
  • Collect and thoroughly analyze complex, cross-departmental data sets to identify trends and insights, investigate anomalies, and uncover opportunities to enhance market and operations performance.
  • Develop data visualization dashboards, narratives, and metrics to measure and communicate market and operations performance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as liaison and collaborate across the organization to clearly communicate results, resolve issues, and influence process improvements.
  • Conduct ad-hoc engineering analyses on major operational and market events and scenarios, and present findings to support business decisions.
  • Establish, streamline, and automate processes to drive effective and efficient outcomes.
  • Support and participate in internal and external MISO committees, working groups and project teams as needed to collaborate and influence solution adoptions

    Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.

    Proficiency with data analysis tools and programming languages for power system and market studies—such as Power BI, Python, SQL, and Azure.

    Relevant work experience, which may include Power System Engineering, Simulation, Modeling, Energy Market and Operations, Data Science, Statistical and Econometric Analysis, Market Analysis and Design, or Optimization Algorithms.

    Previous energy industry experience with ISO/RTO markets, operations, or utilities.
    Experience with power system engineering tools (e.g., PSSE, PowerGEM, PROMOD, Plexos).
