Position Summary
The Assistant Director for Alumni Relations (New York City Programming ) reports to the Senior Director for Strategic Initiatives, Office of Alumni Relations. Primary functions include planning, marketing, and executing University-wide, cultural school-based, industry-specific, and other events in New York City (excluding reunions, Homecoming, and young alumni programming).

The Assistant Director also serves as the lead for the Alumni Travel Program. Some travel and evening/weekend work is required.

Essential Functions
  • Manages major events, including the University’s participation in the annual NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the annual Memorial Mass.
  • Manages 5-10 cultural programs per year, highlighting Fordham alumni, faculty staff, and students across the cultural landscape of New York.
  • Works closely with key University administrators, including Development and University Relations colleagues, to achieve long-term program goals.
  • Works closely with deans, deans’ staff, constituent group leaders, and other volunteers to implement distinctive alumni programming.
  • Responsible for event planning and logistics, including establishing and managing relationships with vendors, negotiating contracts, and managing event budgets.
  • Works with travel partners to curate Fordham’s alumni travel program. Markets travel opportunities, communicates with travelers, organizes trip-specific events, and creates a pipeline between alumni travelers and frontline fundraisers.
  • Staffs major alumni events, including Homecoming, Jubilee Weekend, the Block Party at Lincoln Center, and the Fordham Founder’s Dinner.
  • Serves as the point person for the Marymount College Alumnae Board and the liaison to the greater Marymount alumnae community.
  • Assists with Fordham University Alumni Association (FUAA) event planning, logistics, and execution, and other support as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Functions
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in event planning and management, alumni relations, advancement, or a related field.
  • Event planning experience.

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated track record of success managing multiple projects simultaneously, superior organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain poise under pressure.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking and portraying a professional image to all internal and external constituents.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Thoughtfulness and creativity.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Must be willing to travel.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Familiarity with higher education and Jesuit values.


Minimum Starting Salary $66,000
Maximum Starting Salary $72,000
Note Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
