Full Time, Day Shift, 8am-4:30pm
JOB TITLE: Receptionist Clerk
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The primary purpose of the Receptionist Clerk is to answer incoming calls to the main phone lines and to perform clerical duties. Duties include but are not limited to: answering phones, scheduling appointments, directing calls to the appropriate personnel, process incoming mail, scanning records, utilizing fax press, interface and EPHI, releasing medical records. Other duties as necessary or assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normally works 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday with a scheduled lunch every day with varied start/end times
May require paid overtime before and/or after normal working hours.
Works in well-lighted and well-ventilated office.
Expected to adhere to general office policy.
Subject to blood and body fluids exposure.
Subject to frequent interruption.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a high school graduate.
The primary purpose is to provide clerical support to the providers and AMG management
Must have general computer knowledge.
Must have Electronic Medical Record knowledge
Must have basic typing skills.
Must have good health as demonstrated by infrequent absenteeism.
Must have ability to communicate well with a variety of patients in mature, courteous, and professional manner.
Must be able to function independently and accurately with frequent interruptions.
Ability to work efficiently and accurately under conditions of high stress.
TASKS:
Answers phones in a pleasant professional manner.
Accurately receives and sends messages to appropriate staff and/or providers
Accurately scans medical records into patient charts
Accurately faxing of patient documents
Completes items in fax press and interface
Willingness to cross train to other areas within the office with the following duties:
Verifies demographic, referring physician and insurance information over the telephone or in person.
Correctly identifies insurances that need precertification or authorization and ensure that it is obtained.
Must collect copays from patients. (See policy on money handling.)
Collection of past balances
Must verify correct amount of cash in drawer upon opening and close out cash drawer in evening.
Must correctly schedule tests at appropriate site.
Must notify appropriate staff when supplies are low for recording purposes. (Put on physician schedule if appropriate).
Must run fee tickets, day sheets, and SOF forms.
Make sure appropriate forms are completed.
Keep an eye on waiting room for supplies and neatness.
Make follow up appointments/ schedule necessary tests
May need to post charges and co-pays
May be asked to make patient appointment reminders and monitor Iremind calls
Inspects patient's medical record prior to visit to ensure completeness as well as making sure the results of tests are available.
Maintaining provider schedules accurately and completely
Retrieving and returning all voicemail calls within the same business day
Scheduling of all new incoming referrals
Scanning consult cards and necessary information to MSO
Other duties as assigned by Practice Manager or Clinical Lead.
