Job Description

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fleet Maintenance Technician reports to the Fleet Supervisor for daily assignments, task and other projects.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for completing repairs, preventative maintenance service and safety checks on company EMS vehicles in accordance with prescribed PM policies and procedures. Responsible for accurate record keeping of all services and repairs completed. Responsible for determining failures that are the result from improper operation by crew members, material defects, normal wear, or other causes.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Determine appropriate maintenance and repairs on all vehicle components that include, but are not limited to, brakes, engine components, suspension components, steering components, cooling systems, air conditioning systems, lifts, fuel systems, exhaust systems, vehicle electrical systems, and other components on gasoline and diesel-powered engines

2. Performs diagnostics, preventative maintenance and repairs on all PTN EMS vehicle systems

3. Accounts for all work performed on a work order and accounts for all parts and supplies used for repairs

4. Work without supervision

5. Safety conscious

6. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Skills: Demonstrate interpersonal skills and strong communication skills. Ability to make decisions and problem solve relative to urgency. Ability to prioritize and coordinate a multitude of tasks, proficient in basic computer and diagnostic skills. Attention to detail. Understands how to safely use hand and power tools used in automotive/truck repairs.

Years of Experience: Two years of experience as a mechanic.

Certification: National Automotive Service Technician (ASE).

Tools: Must have at least basic tools to be able to work on medium duty and light duty trucks.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of an automotive technology program

Certification: Master Automotive Technician or manufacturer training.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands: Must be able to frequently move, lift, or carry materials weighting up to 50 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, bend for extended periods of time, Performs heavy physical labor in a variety of outdoor conditions
