About the Job



The West Central Research & Outreach Center (WCROC) is hiring a full-time Researcher 1 position. The position reports to the Renewable Energy Director. The position assists in the day-to-day operation of a Green Hydrogen and Ammonia plant. This includes plant maintenance and safety, collecting and analyzing data, and hosting facility tours.

Major Areas of Accountability
(65%) Assist in the day-to-day operations of a Renewable Hydrogen and Ammonia Pilot Plant including monitoring the plant, troubleshooting issues that arise, coordinating with contractors for
repairs/maintenance, developing best operational practices and procedures, developing and implementing safety procedures and protocols, developing and implementing test protocols, and collecting and analyzing production data.
(30%) Support project team designing and installing a Renewable Hydrogen and Ammonia Pilot Plant including attending project meetings, assisting with building codes review, HazOp analysis, on-site coordination for plant installation, and developing data acquisition systems and procedures.
(5%) Duties as assigned: Will be expected to back up and cross train with other renewable energy staff members. Assist with tours and outreach events.

Qualifications



Required Qualifications:
1. Must have a BA/BS in an Engineering Technology or Science, or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or similar technical field.
2. Basic computer skills including experience with MS Office, especially Excel.
3. Familiarity with LabVIEW or similar software.
4. Some familiarity with basic shop tools and an aptitude for electromechanical devices.
5. Experience working in a research environment with data acquisition systems.
6. Logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills - especially with mechanical systems.
7. Ability to occasionally work for extended periods in outdoor environments.
