The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Nurse Practitioners working with the New York State Department of Corrections Office of Special Investigations (OSI) obtains, and reviews care provided to individuals in the Department’s care and custody and will provide input to the investigation team using both written and oral reports. May participate in individual mortality reviews, will assist with investigations of medically related unusual incidents, and perform various other specific duties related to the primary functions. Review individual cases to ensure care provided is consistent with written reports as well as applicable professional and community standards. The Nurse Practitioner will join OSI investigators when conducting interviews in which medical information will be discussed. Provide reports related to findings. Works with, meets with, and/or serves as a liaison to, other staff within the Office of Special Investigations, the Department, and/or distinct organizational units of DOCCS as directed and appropriate.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Nurse Practitioner (Various Parenthetic) Open Competitive: certification and current registration as a Nurse Practitioner by the New York State Education Department. Demonstrated leadership qualities are preferred. OSI investigative staff must also possess, at a minimum, the highest levels of behavior including personal integrity and ethics; fairness; character; judgment; attitude; and respect for and ability to work with others inside and outside OSI. The ability to travel is also necessary. Salary:
Upstate: $111,897 + $25,000 geo
Downstate: $111,897 + $40,000 geo
In addition to above:
• Mid-Hudson Adjustment $1,650 for Dutchess, Orange and Putnam Counties
• Downstate Adjustment $3,400 for Queens County
