S&ME is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Entry-Level Construction Materials Laboratory Technician to become part of our Construction Services team in Cincinnati, Ohio. Join S&ME today and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients!

What You Will Do:

As an Entry-Level Construction Materials Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in testing and analyzing construction materials such as soil, concrete, masonry, and asphalt. Working alongside experienced technicians and professionals, you'll ensure accurate and thorough reporting of test results, maintain equipment, and assist with calibrations. Your work will contribute to the success of our projects by ensuring the materials meet the required standards.

Conduct and document tests on various construction materials with precision and attention to detail.

Collaborate with experienced colleagues while also working independently to ensure logical and complete test results.

Ensure all laboratory equipment is well-maintained and properly calibrated.

Assist in quality control and adherence to industry standards.

Support field and laboratory operations as needed.

Who You Are:

You have a High School diploma/GED.

You have 0-2 years of experience in a construction materials laboratory.

You have effective math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure.

You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language.

You have one (1) or more active certifications (a plus):

American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I, Strength Testing Technician, Laboratory Technician.

International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils).

DOT Certifications in Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to:

Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for up to 12 hours a day.

Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment).
