Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java and Kotlin), and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience using cloud-based database services.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience with enterprise scale software development.

Our mission is to enable Google’s Legal team to ensure legal and policy compliance in a scalable way for Google products around the world. We focus on building infrastructure and tools that enable the our legal and policy teams to respond to requests by third parties regarding alleged illegal content on Google product and remove content from our properties in a manner that ensures legal compliance while balancing Google’s policy and mission.

Unusual for a team at Google, we own the full scope of our tools from the front end to the database. Our users are not an anonymous statistical distribution of consumers, but a discreet number of sophisticated and highly-engaged Googlers. Responsibilities

  • Establish and follow software development best practices and a robust engineering culture.
  • Participate in the definition, design and development of the next generation of Removals software system.
  • Participate in engaging with the Legal team to better understand the business function, and suggest opportunities for automation using Machine Learning and other techniques.
  • Work closely with our UX team to ensure content moderation products reflect product excellence and are accessible.
