Position Data:

Title: Kitchen Assistant

Grade: E3 Exempt Non-Exempt X

Reports to: Center Director


Basic Function or Position Summary:

Assists with food preparation and delivery for Head Start children and other customers. Assists with cleanup of kitchen, dishes, and prep areas. Salary $15.00 - $16.00/hourly


Security Clearance: None

Requirements

Position Responsibilities and Specific Duties:

• Food preparation at the direction of Cook.

• Sets up carts for delivery of food to classrooms and return

• Serves meals

• Place food into hot packs and vehicles for transport to off-site locations

• Wash dishes, floors, and food prep areas

• Transport food and supplies to off-site classrooms

• Assists with stocking of groceries

• Promotes agency mission

• Maintains confidentiality and complies with the code of ethics

• Maintains consistent professional customers service

• Job performance incorporates integrated service delivery model while promoting

self-sufficiency.

• Other duties as designated by supervisor


Key Working Relationships:

A. Internal: Food Service Manager, Head Cook, Assistant Cook, Teachers

B. External: Vendors, Customers, and Agencies

A. Number of staff supervised: 0

B. Titles supervised: None


Organizational Responsibilities:

• Adheres to Head Start and CACFP food preparation and safety regulations


Knowledge, Skills Required:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Knowledge of health and sanitation procedures and practices


Special Requirements:

• Valid Drivers license and ability to travel

• Ability to do some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.)

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including up and down stairs.

• Must be able to provide consistent even tempered customer service at all times.
