About the Job



The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences has an opening for a Lab Technician (Researcher 2) to join our team.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:

25%: Work with lab animal subjects. Depending on the project, this includes rodent behavior training, running behavioral tasks and surgical assisting.
15% Run histological sample analyses and microscopic lesioning. Prepare and run samples on various instruments and cleaning equipment. Prepare rodent brain extraction and perfusion.
15%: Perform experiments and analyze experimental samples. Generate sample/control analysis reports and electrophysiology data collection. Responsible for generating, recording, and analyzing data.
15%: Construction of electrode and microwire bundles
15%: Perform everyday tasks such as laboratory cleanup (using aseptic technique), replenishing supplies as needed, and hazardous waste disposal.
10%: Oversee the use of laboratory equipment, training personnel/volunteers and maintaining equipment as needed.
5%: Provide presentations reporting data and scientific findings.

Qualifications



Required Qualifications:

-BS/BA and 1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience to equal five (5) years.
-Previous experience with rodents, rodent experiments, behavior training, rodent surgery, coding, electrode building etc.
-Data analysis and experience with coding languages such as Python or Matlab.
