Job Description
The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University, is seeking a substitute part-time instructor of Spanish to teach one 3-credit course online in upper-level Spanish (SPA 400) in the spring 2024 semester, which begins on January 9, 2024 (appointment begins on January 16, 2024). Offer is contingent on sufficient enrollment.

SPA 400: Topics in Latinx Literature (3 credits) ONLINE

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department.

Qualifications
Master’s Degree preferred, native or near-native fluency required. Experience in university-level instruction preferred.

Responsibilities
It is understood that teaching assignments may include:
  • Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
  • Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
  • Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
  • Meeting all designated class periods.
  • Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.
  • Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
  • Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
