Maintenance Superintendent - Welland (ON, Canada)

We are looking for:

  • Individual accountability for team HSE, Quality, Productivity, and Manufacturing Excellence objectives
  • Ensure all aspects/standards of the Responsible Care Safety Program are met
  • Directly supervises Maintenance Supervisors, Planners and Schedulers and leads the prioritization of their activities
  • Ensure schedule compliance and machinery, systems, infrastructure, and equipment run optimally with minimal downtime
  • Support and lead select site and departmental strategic initiatives in areas such as operational/maintenance continuous improvement, organizational development and maintenance/reliability excellence

We count on you for:

  • Active daily coaching, leadership and development of direct reports
  • Demonstrate visible safety leadership ensuring policies, procedures and standards are followed and measures are taken to correct any non-compliance
  • Leads the development of and the execution of the weekly Maintenance schedule
  • Responsible for the timely resolution of day to day technical issues
  • Leads Maintenance response and repair planning for critical equipment failures
  • Ensure adequate preventative maintenance forecasts are conducted and scheduled with Operation’s group
  • Participate in the development of the work process improvement objectives and area improvement team goals
  • Fill in for Maintenance Manager as required

You will bring:

  • Mechanical Engineer with P. Eng designation or pursuing
  • 10 years of chemical plant experience with 5 years in a leadership role
  • Experience with API standards 570, 650, 653, 620, 576, 682 etc.
  • Experience with CSA B51 and TSSA requirements
  • Experience with CMMS (preferably SAP)
  • Experience as a leader in a unionized environment required
  • Must have demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams
  • Strong prioritization, problem solving and communication skills
  • Experience mentoring and coaching team members

  • Must act in a professional manner and lead by example
  • Must abide by safety, quality and all other site policies and procedures

  • Based at the Welland Site (Niagara region), Ontario - Canada
  • Required to regularly work in an office setting
  • Weekend/Evening work may be required during special circumstances (shutdowns, critical breakdowns)
