    Accounting Manager

    A client of ours is looking for an Accounting Manager for a contract role to oversee daily accounting operations, payroll processing, month-end close, audit preparation, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both public and corporate accounting, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for operational excellence.


    Responsibilities of Accounting Manager 

    • Manage daily accounting functions, including supervision of Accounts Payable and Payroll.
    • Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing and related filings.
    • Ensure timely billing and invoicing operations.
    • Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
    • Coordinate the preparation of audit schedules and serve as the primary liaison for external auditors.
    • Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
    • Ensure timely 403(b) reporting and manage payroll-related compliance filings.
    • Supervise IRS reporting requirements including Forms 990, 1099, and 1096.
    • Support the development and implementation of internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
    • Provide financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting using NetSuite.
    • Work closely with department heads to analyze financial performance and support reforecasting efforts.


    Skills/Qualifications of Accounting Manager

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
    • 3+ years of public accounting experience.
    • 3+ years of corporate accounting experience in an Accounting Manager or similar senior role.
    • Demonstrated experience with payroll processing and related compliance filings.
    • Strong knowledge of IRS reporting (990, 1099, 1096).
    • Proficiency in accounting systems; NetSuite experience preferred.
    • Proven ability to lead and supervise accounting teams.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to think creatively and implement solutions.
    • Effective change management skills.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across all organizational levels.
    • High level of customer service for internal and external stakeholders.
