About the Job



50% - Perform a variety of molecular and biochemical analyses on human or animal specimens, including genotyping, RNA isolation, quantitative PCR, western blotting, fluorescence microscopy. Isolate, purify, and culture human placental cells using sterile techniques following standard operation procedures. Grow and maintain stable cell cultures and lines and set up experimental assays

20% - Keep detailed records of all experiments and procedures in laboratory notebooks, databases, spreadsheets, and web-based applications.

10% - Conduct background literature research on relevant topics including current methods,

10% - Prepare media, enzymes, and solutions under sterile conditions in large quantities. Help monitor and train undergraduate student workers.

10% - Assist with ordering, maintaining laboratory inventory, and general laboratory upkeep.

Qualifications



Required Qualifications:
BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years; applies knowledge and skill to a recurring task or activity with emphasis typically on precision and timeliness of execution.
Preferred Qualifications:
Would be ideal position for individuals considering graduate or professional studies with interest in maternal health.

About the Department



The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health Research Administration is committed to advancing knowledge of women's health through research and defining the standard of care for all women, today and tomorrow. Clinicians in our Department are actively involved in multiple clinical trials testing the most promising, cutting edge therapies currently under investigation. In addition to conducting clinical trials, our faculty are actively pursuing basic research programs aimed at improving all aspects of women's health. These research efforts cover a broad range of topics from understanding the genetic basis of ovarian cancer to improving fertility using the most advanced techniques to increasing access to health care for underserved communities.
