Overview

Rhode Island Energy, a PPL Services company, is looking for a Supervisor Customer Meter Services. This position is responsible for the daily supervision and organization of assigned operations personnel to effectively accomplish job tasks in line with departmental and Company requirements. This may include oversight and/or collaboration with Construction Personnel, Field Operations Personnel, External Contractors, Gas Emergency First Responders, Service Persons, Mark-out Personnel, and other company or contractor employees on Company job sites, in a cost-effective manner.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety, reliability, security, and integrity of our gas customers’ premises as well as the Company’s distribution system, consistent with Company goals, objectives, and policies, in full compliance with existing and future governmental codes and regulations. Sound implementation of policies and procedures that ensure public safety, maximize customer satisfaction, and fulfill statutory requirements while meeting or exceeding performance incentives.
  • Protect the safety of the public, company property and personnel through monitoring and enforcement of work rules, standards and procedures for emergency response, leak investigation, and other scheduled work, while remaining fully compliant and within budgetary limitations.
  • Respond to gas emergencies and coordinate with other Company emergency response personnel, Emergency Response Agencies, Regulators and the Police and Fire Departments.
  • Support achievement of goals, including operational targets, mandated objectives, budget goals, emergency response and safety.
  • Supervise a culturally diverse workforce, through coaching, counseling, and team building to effectively and efficiently accomplish job tasks.
  • Responsible for workplace safety to ensure safe working conditions are maintained through field inspection of work sites and equipment.
  • Participate in on-call or after hour supervisory duties. Applicants should have quality labor relations skills to interpret contract language, resolve grievances and discipline cases including issues related to sickness and poor standards of work, and initiate and institute corrective action where necessary. Maintain compliance with OSHA, PUC and DOT regulations.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, customer orientation and communication skills, providing the ability to promote team working and harmonious working between site staff, project reams, and contractors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED and 5 years' related work experience to include supervision of others/SME experience/Project Lead experience.
  • Prior Leadership experience with a focus on Gas Construction, Gas Field Operations, and Customer Meter Services is a plus.
  • Operations related work experience is required.
  • Technical knowledge of distribution system, engineering, construction and maintenance practices
  • Knowledge of State and Municipal gas codes
  • Working knowledge of company information systems and technologies related to field operations (MAXIMO, DIGSAFE etc.)
  • Exceptional safety record, strong oral and written communication skills with the proven ability to maximize performance of subordinates.
  • Solid planning and organizing skills are required.

In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
