ELMS Web Application Developer
Job Description
An ELMS Web Application Developer will be responsible for designing, coding, releasing and supporting web-based test lab, prototype planning and business applications to support Global Vehicle Evaluation and Verification and the larger PD organization. Seeking individuals with experience and passion for developing efficient applications and tools that support of test lab and engineering management processes.
Responsibilities
What you'll do:
- Deliver Regional and Global expansion of ELMS applications in the test laboratory and business environments. Extend ELMS benefits to new facilities and/or organizations with steadily increasing feature content.
- Engage intensively with operations/processes to translate non-technical customer requirements into high-functioning and reliable applications and tools. Use prototyping and agile development methods to rapidly refine loose scope/ideas into defined deliverable solutions.
- Investigate opportunities to integrate/automate labor-intensive or disconnected data management/reporting functions and utilize the ELMS environment to deliver substantial quality and efficiency improvements for operations and organizations.
- Work collaboratively with Corporate IT to ensure appropriate levels of independence, integration, and control are established on all systems. Assist with infrastructure/server maintenance and enhancement.
- Develop reliable and secure connections between the ELMS environment and other Ford Corporate IT or Business Managed systems (CPARS, eWHMS, WORQ, GPIRS, etc).
- Produce/Grow test site automation and reporting tool sets for lab performance, metrics generation, and business automation. Includes connections to third-party lab systems such as ADACS, AutoTest, Puma, VETS and LabVIEW.
- Provide high-quality support for legacy applications and tools. Rapidly address bugs and issues. Help define enhancements and desired updates and their priority for implementation.
- Work with the ELMS team to update/build shared resources and frameworks that will improve delivery efficiency and enable sustainable growth. Establish best-practices and libraries.
- Develop and expand ELMS system performance and utilization tools to gauge application quality and customer usage to guide future deployment.
- Leverage rapidly evolving web application technologies to further improve the ELMS function/feature set. Support extension of ELMS into tablet/mobile platforms.
Qualifications
What you'll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Information Systems.
- 3+ years of experience with Web Application Coding Languages – ColdFusion, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery.
- 3+ years of database experience – MS SQL Server: schema design and table creation, SQL queries and data manipulation.
- Experience with Test Laboratory Management processes and related software creation and development.
- The ability to work and handle complex assignments with a high degree of independence.
- MS Office Applications experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Visual Basic/VBA macro development experience.
- SharePoint development experience.
- Mobile device application experience.
