We are looking for a skilled Database Administrator to join our dedicated data team in Des Moines, Iowa. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the health, security, and performance of critical database systems while ensuring effective data governance and management. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in database technologies, a strong understanding of data governance, and a proactive mindset to address complex challenges in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and optimize database queries and processes to support software development projects and ad-hoc reporting needs, ensuring adherence to team standards.
• Partner with software developers to streamline database deliverables, including pair programming and coordinating deployments outside normal business hours.
• Troubleshoot and upgrade third-party software products with database backends, providing diagnostic support to resolve issues across network segments.
• Implement and enforce corporate policies for role-based data access to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information.
• Perform routine administrative tasks such as database installations, upgrades, migrations, server patching, backups, disaster recovery testing, and performance tuning.
• Lead initiatives to improve database design, data classification and retention, cloud migration strategies, and overall system reliability and security.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation to support auditing, encryption, and security standards.
• Monitor database performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
• Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server and database optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based database solutions.
• Strong knowledge of backup technologies and disaster recovery processes.
• Expertise in cluster analysis and configuration management.
• Solid understanding of database security protocols and role-based access controls.
• Ability to perform database migrations, installations, and upgrades with minimal supervision.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
