Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor (Carpentry) position, in the Academic and Student Affairs division.  This position is located on Atlanta Tech's main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta. 

 

Under general supervision, the Adjunct Instructor (Carpentry) will be responsible for instructing and supervising students in Skills Trade, Carpentry, program and courses. 

 Duties and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Teach program-specific content in-person and online using established curriculum p
  • Prepare materials needed for course instruction, labs, and testing
  • Create a focused and engaged learning environment
  • Encourage student performance and growth of skills 
  • Support the academic success of the students 
  • Prepare students for a career in the floor-covering industry 
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with students, faculty, and staff 
  • Relate instruction and material course objectives to real-world, industry-specific examples 
  • Submit grades, attendance, reports, and records on time 
  • Monitor students' use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Participate in professional development
  • Consistently conduct industry visits to establish key relationships
  • Ensure safety and security requirements are adhered to in training areas
  • Maintain program certification requirements, as appropriate
  • Attend conferences, annual meetings, etc., when needed on behalf of the technical college 
  • Skilled in making oral presentations to public and private groups 
  • Maintain professional qualifications as appropriate for the field and as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Policy Manual
  • Follow rules and regulations as described by the TCSG Policy Manual, and other policies and procedures established by the Institution
  • Work well without direct supervision. Open and receptive to constructive feedback 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • College Diploma preferred
  • Three (3) years paid current in-field experience in floor covering installation
  • Journeyman level certification in floor covering installation
  • Master certification preferred

 

May be required to teach at other locations and other locations within the community.
