Pay Range

$99,000.00-$136,200.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

The Milan, OH facility is hiring an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining plant safety programs, assuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and company policies. As the Environmental Health & Safety Manager, you will drive effective programs to identify and control safety compliance.

The purpose of the role is to direct all health, safety and environmental related activities for his/her base plant. The individual holding this position will be responsible for managing the Health, Safety & and Environment (HSE) Team's performance and assuring full compliance to safety related procedures, policies and regulations.

Your Day to Day:

Ensure facilities are operating in compliance with all applicable health, safety and environmental regulations and requirements as codified in state and federal OSHA regulations or otherwise referenced (typically through a site audit, gap analysis, and closure process)
Drive initiatives that identify and communicate facility risk exposures, prioritize risk reduction needs, and drive closure of recommendations to reduce the identified risks
Facilitate/oversee incident investigations, root cause analyses, and closure of corrective actions
Assess current EHS structure and identify and develop potential staff
Safety leadership onboardingfor front line leaders, through sites training with other division leaders
Assist the plant operations team and JM Corporate Safety to evaluate and determine appropriate proactive safety strategies for projects that may have an impact on the facility or employees.
Develop action plans for safety activities, coordinate the plant Safety Committee team, perform follow-up on these activities, and report status to the Plant Manager.
Training and mentoring of Hazard Identification with all levels at the plant, on site development and hands on trainings
Establish and drive continuous improvement in the facilities environmental monitoring and recordkeeping data management systems to ensure compliance with all JM policies and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
Ensure that all industrial process wastewaters are properly managed and discharged from the plant in a manner that protects ground waters and surface tributaries from contamination and is in compliance with the plants operating discharge permit
Ensure the proper onsite management and offsite disposal of solid, universal, and hazardous wastes and lead a plant-wide effort to eliminate these by correcting the eliminating the root causes and/or reducing wastes, reusing, and recycling various materials
Complete and assure clear communication of HSE metrics and reports
Establish the Annual Operating Plan for HSE team
Ensure knowledge of regulatory standards and that all process changes comply with JM and HSE standards
May be required to perform other related duties as assigned

What You Bring to the Team:

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of work experience in environmental, health, and safety in a manufacturing setting
Water permit management experience
Hazardous waste management experience
Significant knowledge of safety and environmental regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, etc.) and the ability to work with respective outside agencies
Strong organizational and training skills
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Ability to use a variety of software applications to analyze, monitor data, create reports, and presentations.
Ability to work well with upper-level management and with production workforce
Leadership and influencing skills to direct personnel, implement initiatives, supervising teams, and performing follow-up activities.
Demonstrated Root-Cause analysis skills (RCCA, 5-Whys).
Solid analytical ability to determine and develop solutions to moderately complex problems
Ability to direct personnel, coordinate contractors and manage projects/processes within regulatory standards
Ability to be on call, as needed 24/7.
Ability to climb stairs, ladders, extensive walking, confined spaces, wear a respirator (if applicable) and handle exposures to hot/cold environments.
Minimal travel required (0 - 10 days per year)
Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility; may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
