We aim to be the primary service provider for the people and entities responsible for the care, movement, and long-term preservation of art and culture. To that end, our Freelance Art Inventory Specialists are responsible for ensuring safety and integrity in the handling and tracking of all works, artifacts, and collections from museums across the world, regional art galleries, and private venues. In addition to physical requirements, this role also provides knowledge and a keen eye during inventory and warehouse projects.
WHAT WE OFFER
Pay: $20.00-$25.00/hr
Schedule: 40 Hours Per Week
Location: Lanham, MD
Responsibilities:
The role of Freelance Art Inventory Specialist is multifaceted. In this role you will work in the warehouse in tracking/scanning, recording, and reporting on all inventory new and existing within the warehouse. This role requires you to work with Warehouse Staff, Art Transportation Specialists, and Management to handle and track all inventory.
Handle and move packaged and unpackaged artworks
Wrap and pack with designated techniques,materials, and crates
Conduct inspection reports for various types of art objects
Operating inventory scanning equipment
Complete daily forms, and document status and scope of work in progress
Organize and maintain operational tools and materials
Ensures warehouse cleanliness, checks materials and equipment to ensure proper operation
Qualifications:
1-2 years of Art/Artifact Handling in Warehouse, Gallery, Museum or Commercial Art Company experience
Experience conducting condition reports on various types of art and artifacts
Knowledge of scanning devices or inventory software is required
Understanding of industry standards for art handling and condition reporting including proper terminology for description
Attention to detail
Self-motivated and driven to learn a new environment with evolving industry standards
Experience packing, installing, deinstalling, crating, and unpacking art is a plus
Physical Requirements - lifting, moving, heavy objects (in excess of 75 lbs), bending, kneeling, crouching, etc. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift a min. of 50lbs on their own.
Must have valid driver’s license
