Job Description
Carver Construction is seeking a Skilled Construction Craft Laborer Apprentice.
A skilled Construction Craft Laborer works in support of other skilled crafts in performing any combination of duties involving highway or building construction, environmental restoration, tunnel and shaft construction and demolition projects. They utilize specified training and knowledge of craft skills and handling of hazardous materials. Hand and power tools are used throughout their duties including clearing an preparing sites, rights-of-way, and foundations for cementitious and asphaltic products and structures. Frequent transfer between these and related areas require workers with diverse experience and ability to work without close supervision.
Physical demands: While performing the responsibilities of the Laborer position, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee may be required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys or controls of equipment and/or machinery. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may also be required to lift, push or pull up to 70 pounds.
Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The employee is required to work outdoors and will be exposed to different work situations and varying weather conditions. While operating required equipment and machinery the employee will be exposed to sudden jolts and constant vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Location: The successful candidate will work with our site construction crews on a variety of projects located throughout the Capital District. Our main office is located at 26 Corporate Circle, Albany, NY 12203.
The full hourly rate for this position at the completion of the apprenticeship is $26.00. You will be paid a percentage of this rate as you progress throughout the apprenticeship, beginning at 60% of the hourly rate.
