  • The F-16A/B/C or D Aircraft Mechanic Egress (AME) Air force Aircrew Egress System Specialist Technical School graduate mechanic performs organizational, intermediate and limited depot level maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, modification and troubleshooting on all assigned aircraft, components and equipment. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction to other employees as needed.
  • Maintains assigned aircraft in accordance with Navy, and Air Force manufacturer and company distributors.
  • Responsible for all egress system on and off equipment maintenance on F-16A/B/C or D models.
  • Removes, transports, inspects, repairs and reinstalls F-16A/B/C or D ejection seats.
  • Inspects, repairs and cleans seat harnesses.
  • Inventories, stores, removes and replaces seat CAD/PAD explosive items
  • Maintains environmental system on F-16A/B/C or D models.
  • Maintains, inspects canopy explosive devices F-16A/B/C or D.
  • Maintains and inspects on board oxygen generating system (OBOGS) or Liquid Oxygen (LOX).
  • Performs aircraft scheduled/unscheduled on and off equipment maintenance.
  • Performs aircraft corrosion control procedures to include wash, wipe down, polish and vacuum.
  • Operates GSE, flight line vehicles and other support equipment as required.
  • Drives tugs for the purpose of towing equipment and aircraft.
  • Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft forms and VIDS/MAF System.
  • Orders aircraft/equipment parts.
  • Supervises/assists in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times.
  • Shall perform other job-related duties as may be assigned
  • This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hangar/shop/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards. of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, snow, ice, etc.
  • May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 70 pounds.
  • Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • May be required to perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ recent experience in ejection seat maintenance and two (2) years recent egress system repair experience.
  • Must have F-16A/B/C or D aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Shall be a graduate the Air Force F-16A/B/C or D Aircrew Egress System Specialist Technical School T/M/S or factory equivalent ejection seat course of instruction.
  • Shall be qualified on ground support equipment applicable to the specialty.
  • Shall be familiar with Navy technical publications.

Minimum Requirements

  • Capable of conducting on-the-job training and maintenance of Contractor personnel seat/cockpit safety checkout training records; and shall be experienced and qualified in the removal and replacement of ejection seats, canopies and explosive devices, both “I” and “0” levels.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions and special tools and test equipment.
  • Previous Military must provide Member 4 DD214 with Honorable Discharge
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. .
  • Must be able to work all assigned shifts & schedules.
  • Formal/Specialized Training or Equivalent.

Preferred Requirements

  • Hazardous Waste Communication Training.
  • FOD and TCP Awareness Trained.
  • Security Clearance Awareness Training.
  • COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Program Awareness.
  • ISO 9001-2000 Program Awareness.
  • NALCOMIS/OOMA or Air Force Aircraft Maintenance Management system.
  • ESD Trained.
  • Support Equipment Operator’s License (Tow Tractor, N2 Servicing Trailer and Mobile Start Unit at a minimum.)
  • Collateral Duty Inspector (in 2 T/M/S aircraft).
  • Egress System Checkout.
  • Non-Nuclear Ordnance Explosive Handling Certified.
  • Plane Captain Qualified.
  • Aircraft Towing Certified.
  • Aircraft Brake Rider Certified.
  • Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
  • Fuel Surveillance Trained, Engine Run ( 1 T/M/S minimum) Troubleshooter/Final Checker Certified.
