Position Overview
As an intern on our Aviation Sustainability team, you will be an integral part of projects and support key members of our team. Our internship program provides all interns an opportunity to meet with leadership and work with mentors on both professional and technical development. We also have a lot of fun - between company events, intern socials, and team bonding, our interns become a part of our ONE C&S mentality.
Position Responsibilities:
Perform, under close supervision, routine aspects of aviation-specific sustainability planning and environmental studies
Specific projects will depend on project availability and individual abilities but may include providing support for: sustainability master plans, sustainability and resilience workshops, net zero emissions roadmaps, and research support for innovative grant progams
Support sustainability integration into design and construction projects including administration of the Envision rating system, sustainability specification development and low embodied carbon material research
Occasional airport site visits related to sustainability management and integration
Research and prepare data for evaluation; providing support to staff members as needed
Assist in the coordination of projects from conception (feasibility) through final plan preparations
Potential to accompany staff to construction site visits (i.e. single-family homes) taking part in the Quieter Home Program. Note: We hope that there will be opportunities for the intern to engage with single-family homes under construction during their tenure, pending the availability of such projects
Utilize safe work practices in accordance with federal, state, local, and company standards.
Communicate incidents, accidents, near misses, potential hazards, and unsafe working conditions to a supervisor or the Health and Safety Department as soon as identified.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Planning, Environmental Science, Sustainable Design or Resilience, Aviation Management, or another related field
Strong interest in sustainability, environmental science, construction, or a related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Resourceful and self-motivated with organizational skills and a focus on details
Ability to work and thrive in a team environment and effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management
Interest or coursework in sustainability and resiliency is helpful
Working knowledge of the primary aspects of sustainable design including familiarity with construction drawings and specifications, is a plus
Estimated Compensation Range: $18.00-$21.00/hour*
*Actual compensation may vary based on prior internship experience, current academic year, degree program, certifications, and geographical location.
