Job Description Summary

As part of Projects & Service, GS provides Turnkey Projects & Consulting, Electrical Balance of Plant, HV substations, and maintenance & asset management.

The Senior Project Engineering Manager oversees engineering activities of the project (or on a particular work package of the project in case of Large & Complex project), considering the quality/Cost/time delivery criteria.

They plan overall design activities, manage Project design budget, define the design quality plan, implement design change process, supervise and coordinate all engineering tasks required to execute the project, whether in-house or by suppliers/subcontractors, and ensure technical coordination of the Grid Solutions project. They warrant that optimized technical solutions (cost-effective solution, ease of installation, and operation of the systems) in line with Customer expectations are implemented by the project engineering team and involved Partners, and that documentation is delivered as per project general time schedule.

Senior Project Engineering Manager is accountable for the proper performance of design in matters of time spent, deadlines, and quality. Their field of intervention is linked to project strategy defined by Project Manager. In the case of multi-unit project, they will be focusing on overall Technical Coordination, and according to the global load, may be assisted by deputy PEM to follow Solutions team package.

A senior PEM has the capacity to perform technical coordination of “full set” projects, within an (inter)national environment with many complex internal and suppliers interfaces:

  • With an important customer in terms of secured and potential contracts or target market.
  • That constitutes a major financial, technical and or commercial risk & opportunities.
  • The impact of the project will have a significant effect on the Business unit

  • RETURN OF EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE CAPITALISATION.
  • QUALITY MANAGEMENT.
  • HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGEMENT.

Desired Profile and Experience:

  • Engineering degree level or equivalent education.
  • 8+ years experience, of which 2 to 4 projects in a position of Project Engineering Manager, managing medium set projects, across several project contexts (technology, scope, contract environment) in EPC type environment in T&D, Power Gen or Oil&Gas industry.
  • Mastering of involved discipline (process, tools, technical aspects)
  • Successful experience in management of multi-disciplinary teams with multiple interfaces and with products coming from several countries.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Exposure as Technical leader in international environment (preferred)
  • Experience of team building.
  • Strong influencing and relationship building skills.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills & experience.
  • General Knowledge of GRID Solutions factories and products through FAT, site visits.
  • Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution industry.
  • Italian projects execution experience with Italian TSOs.
  • Knowledge of project execution risks and financial processes.
  • Willingness to work in different locations for short or medium period and to travel worldwide.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages.
  • Demonstrates ownership & accountability, judgment and decision making, influences & inspires team, creates a vision and strategy, and has passion for the role.
