Summary:
The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams, providing transmission line design engineering and related technical expertise. Work will include preparing design documents for high-voltage transmission and distribution lines in the electric utility and renewable energy sectors. Tasks may include developing transmission line design models, wood and steel pole specifications, construction and materials specifications, and drilled pier foundation design and embedment depth calculations. Tasks may also involve reviewing and producing design drawings including plans and profiles, framing, and assembly.
The work will include direct client contact, business development, and marketing opportunities.
This position also provides leadership opportunities, such as managing projects, coaching and mentoring less-experienced staff, providing technical leadership, and managing teams to meet clients' needs.
The work may involve short-term out-of-town assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, electrical, or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university

At least 10 years of relevant experience with electric transmission line design up to 345kV

Professional Engineer (PE) license

Relevant work experience as described above

Proficiency with PLS-CADD software suite

Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the tasks described above

Client-relationship and business-development skills

Demonstrated project organization and management skills

Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office

Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiative

A flexible working style and a willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs

Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future

Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with analyzing lattice steel towers

Experience with FAD and LPile foundation design programs

Experience with different transmission structure foundation types

Experience with AutoCAD and/or Microstation
This position can be based at any Barr office or fully remote within the United States.
Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $128,000-$151,000/year. This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.Barr has a "no retained earnings" model and distributes all its profit to our employees through our bonus plan and ESOP.

Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities.
