The RL Technology Engineering for Devices (TED) Team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs in core technologies and delivering them to market at scale. The Camera and Depth Team is tasked with defining and developing Reality Labs’ cameras and depth modules across all product lines. The team is seeking a seasoned experienced Depth Module Architect to help define Reality Labs’ next generations of depth modules for our world-leading VR and AR products. These modules enable game-changing experiences such as Passthrough, Augmented object placements, and Smart Guardian.
Depth Architect, Camera & Depth, TED, RL Responsibilities
  • Translate user experience requirements into module architectural proposals, analyze and simulate these architectures, and present them to international cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate with domain-expert teams to identify and assess technologies, including sensors, optics, packaging, integrated signal processing devices and algorithms, to help define next-generation depth modules.
  • Analyze complex design trade-offs between performance, power consumption, size, risk, and cost to deliver actionable options to decision-makers in the company.
  • Negotiate specifications with stakeholders in various cross-functional teams. Participate and present in cross-functional architectural forums.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent, with 10+ years of industry experience.
  • 5+ years of consumer, industrial or automotive depth imaging development.
  • Understanding of depth sensing technologies, including SPAD arrays and associated signal processing architectures.
  • Understanding of illumination sources (specifically VCSELs), driver electronics, imaging electronics, optics and module packaging.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal communication skills, and experience working across multiple disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing Depth Sensing Modules in high volume consumer products Experience bringing imaging modules to high-volume production in the consumer electronics space.
  • Proven track record of guiding collaborative teams effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Flexibility and resilience skills in a dynamic environment Experience working in complex, interdisciplinary organizations.
  • Experience evolving nascent technologies to high-volume production.

$204,000/year to $281,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
