Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal/ Sr. Principal Database Engineer. As part of the NGAS Global Supply Chain Operations Analytics team, the individual will be required to support a diverse array of tasks and projects within the Global Supply Chain (GSC) organization. We are focused on obtaining SME expertise in the Global Supply Chain area, particularly in the world of SAP HANA. The person hired into this position can work remotely or sit at any Northrop Grumman location.
The Database Engineer designs, develops, builds, analyzes, evaluates and installs database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management. Uses data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases. Determines data storage and optimum storage requirements. Prepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation.
The Database Engineer creates data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets. Analysis may have many applications such as to address a business issue or provide a competitive advantage for the organization.
In this role, the selected candidate will perform the following:
- Architect, design, develop, document, test, integrate and debug data products created by scripts and custom tools
- Meet project milestones while ensuring high quality standards are met
- Interface with other groups and subject matter experts within and outside of the organization
Salary ranges will be dependent upon where the position is based and follows our company geographic salary bands aligned with position. Specific salary offer for candidate selected will be commensurate with experience.
Basic Qualifications:
Level 3 (Principal):
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree of Science Degree with 4 years of related experience OR Master’s Degree with 2 years in global supply chain, data mining, statistical reporting, data analysis, debugging data scripts or similar OR PhD with 0 years experience in global supply chain, data mining, statistical reporting, data analysis, debugging data scripts or similar
- Must have knowledge of relational databases (i.e. MSSQL)
- Must be proficient with writing Structure Query Language (SQL) scripts
- Knowledge of SAP, SAP HANA, or SAP FIORI
Level 4 (Sr. Principal):
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree of Science Degree with 8 years of related experience OR Master’s Degree with 6 years in global supply chain, data mining, statistical reporting, data analysis, debugging data scripts or similar OR PhD with 3 years experience in global supply chain, data mining, statistical reporting, data analysis, debugging data scripts or similar
- Must have knowledge of relational databases (i.e. MSSQL)
- Must be proficient with writing Structure Query Language (SQL) scripts
- Knowledge of SAP, SAP HANA, or SAP FIORI
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Global Supply Chain operations, data, and/or processes
- SAP HANA Sector Content Developer
- Experience with writing Python scripts to automate data insertion/extraction
- Experience architecting databases
- Experience interpreting and anticipating requirements from stakeholders
- Knowledge of Data Visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, Microsoft Power BI)
- Knowledge of SAP HANA or FIORI
- Experience with configuration management and version control tools such as Azure DevOps,
- JIRA, Git/Bitbucket
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; strong interpersonal and analytic skills
- Current & active DoD security clearance
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
