Classification Description Summary

Parks and Rec Specialist Band IV 

Positions in this band have considerable technical prerequisites.  Work tasks require knowledge, skills, and abilities typically attained through education and/or certification programs.


Work Schedule

  • Less than 233 hours per quarter and may be year round or

  • 233 hours or more in a quarter with a maximum of six months employment or

  • Not to exceed 1,039 work hours within any fiscal year

Essential Functions

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Creates documents using Microsoft office software:  word processing, database, spreadsheet and Powerpoint.

  • Enters data from timesheets into payroll system.

  • Enters purchase requisitions into automated system and processes invoices

  • Prepares activity reports. Researches and compiles information on programs and facilities.

  • Office assignments may include, answering phones, scheduling appt’s and work schedules, maintaining files and an orderly office, assisting customer inquiries.

  • Front desk duties include; Collecting payments, registrations and reservations for recreational facilities and programs using a computer and specialized software.

  • Creates financial reports, reviews revenue, expenses and attendance.

  • Prepares activity reports. Researches and compiles information on programs and facilities.

  • Creates and analyzes attendance and patron usage reports.

  • Answers phone, schedules appointments, maintains files.

  • Assists with special projects.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Age:                  18

Education:      High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:      Two years of paid office support experience; strong computer skills

Licenses:      Valid driver’s license


Preferred Qualifications

Education:            Two years of college level coursework in administration related field

Working Conditions

  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time.

  • Walking on various surfaces including uneven ground that may be slippery.

  • Lifting, moving or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds for short distances.

  • Conveys and exchanges verbal and written information.
