Job Description

Job Purpose

Responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing Postgres backend solution for manufacturing applications. This candidate should have advanced knowledge of relational database design, Postgres features, and utilities, strong tuning and optimization skills, and the ability to manage multiple development and production Postgres environments.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

* Provide best practice guidance to the development team with regard to database design and usage
* Develop automation technologies to expedite the process of loading data into the end target
* Experience architecting a large-scale production database platforms
Design and develop relational databases
* Develop appropriate corrective actions to resolve production data issues
* Design database schema to meet new enhancement requirements
* Expertise with Postgres system metrics and optimization strategies
* Creating and maintaining documentation, troubleshooting playbooks, testing failover and recovery plans
* Design, monitor, and maintain disaster recovery solutions for production databases

Education
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Technology or equivalent experience
* Relevant certifications (e.g., MongoDB Certified DBA, PostgreSQL Certified Professional) are a plus
* Personal project usage is also plus

Experience
* 3+ years of database management and engineering experience

Language Skills
* English (fluency in reading, writing and speaking); other language skills helpful

Additional skills

* Strong skills in one or more of the following scripting languages: Python, Perl, Bash, NodeJs
* Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, PodMan)
* Experience in networking
* PostgreSQL DBA experience in a 24x7 production environment
* Data archiving and retention policy management
* Plan growth and change management (Capacity planning)
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and solo environment
