Mission Statement
The Middlesex County Improvement Authority was created by Resolution of the Board of Chosen Freeholders of the County of Middlesex adopted on September 6, 1990. In creating the Authority, the Board of Chosen Freeholders provided an entity, which could assist various governmental and community entities in a variety of ways.

The Authority’s objective is to support the County and the municipalities and other entities within the County, providing financial and management assistance. The Authority strives to improve the quality of life for the residents of Middlesex County.

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY of the Maintenance Repairer:
Under direction, performs routine maintenance and repair of the buildings, grounds equipment and furnishings in the care center.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS of the Maintenance Repairer:

Performs minor repairs and installation of equipment
Assists journeyman level trades people
Performs the less technical operations & repairs in a variety of areas such as carpentry,
masonry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and painting. Specific tasks include: changing
light bulbs & ballasts, troubleshooting & replacing electrical switches and outlets,
replacing faucet valve stems & toilet flush valves, replacing HVAC filters, replacing
ceiling tiles, basic repairs of wheelchairs & beds, etc.
Plants & cares for grass, flowers & shrubs
Moves equipment, beds & furniture
Shovels snow & operates snow plow & salting equipment
Performs grounds maintenance
Handles machines & tools in a safe, efficient manner
Maintains work area in a clean & orderly manner

OTHER JOB DUTIES of the Maintenance Repairer:

Attends required in service training
Assists other personnel when required
Ability to work overtime as required

Skills & Requirements

BASIC COMPETENCIES & EDUCATION:

Able to lift 50 lbs
Has a basic understanding of HVAC, Electrical & Plumbing systems
Is skilled in the use of basic hand & power tools
Able to work from ladders to 10 ft high regularly
Possession of a valid NJ Driver’s License
Ability to read, writes, speak & understand English fluently
Must dress in a neat, professional manner

EXPERIENCE:

Previous maintenance experience preferred
Health Care experience preferred
