Per Diem Counselor

The Per Diem Counselor is a paraprofessional that will provide direct services to individuals seeking services for substance use, co-occurring disorders, and/or gambling in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements. The Per Diem Counselor will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual, family and group sessions and any other prescribed treatment service in accordance with agency and regulatory standards established for this position
  • Conduct initial screenings and assessment, including comprehensive assessments under intensive supervision, and collaborate with clinical team on treatment recommendations
  • Develop, implement and monitor client treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with external service providers to ensure coordination of care.
  • Communicate  with courts, probation, parole and other external agencies relevant to the client.
  • Complete and maintain client case records in a timely manner and in compliance with agency and other regulatory standards
  • Assume other tasks, projects and responsibilities assigned to support the operations of the program.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience providing individual and group counseling to substance use or mental health population either working in an OASAS/OMH setting. Internship experience will be considered.
  • Intermediate computer skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
