SMX is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide management, direction, administration, quality assurance, and leadership of the execution of engineering and service delivery of the multiple complex C2 and CDS solutions for USAREUR G33 MCSD.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As the Systems Engineer you will plan, design, develop, evaluate, test, and integrate systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software. You will also capture, understand, translate, and document customer requirements; define system and product requirements; and generate mechanical, electrical, and software performance and reliability specifications and requirements. Selected candidate will create and maintain programmatic and technical documentation to ensure efficient planning and execution. Manages and documents system configurations and oversees all transitions into production. Performs troubleshooting and remediation, ensures successful project implementation, and performs post project end user support.

  • Standardize and optimize system and infrastructure designs and architectures
  • Identify and coordinate emerging IT solutions and technology integration opportunities
  • Implement innovative industry best practices and technologies that maximize efficiencies and cost savings
  • Develop new systems while migrating infrastructure capabilities to meet mission requirements and improve operational efficiency of customers
  • Plan and deliver system, infrastructure, and telephony capabilities that scale to meet enterprise demand with the least re-engineering effort possible
  • Facilitate and monitor the integration, interoperability, and synchronization of enterprise-wide systems and infrastructure solutions and services
  • Participates in project performance review meetings and discussions
  • Analyze and capture requirements and specifications of software design, development, integration, and testing; versioning control, project management, and problem tracking and solutions; configuration, installation, deployment, account migration services; follow-on operations; maintenance on an end-to-end basis throughout all networks
  • Provide storage system operations, operate server and storage appliances, analyze, and resolve common problems related to servers and storage
  • Install patches and perform system updates per STIG requirements
  • Manage server and storage processing strategies, recover data, install, and configure server and storage devices
  • Support Software as a Service (SaaS) and Application as a Service to include developing applications to run on Government owned, and cloud infrastructure IAW with Government defined standards and within Government defined frameworks
  • Manage server and storage processing strategies, recover data and install and configure server and storage devices
  • Provide wide-area and local-area network connectivity, firewall, and Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) support
  • Provide Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) setup, operations, and monitoring support; update and maintain computer and network security devices
  • Provide Host-Based Security System (HBSS) setup and operation support and IS security remediation and vulnerability mitigation support

Required Skills, Experience & Education

  • Required clearance: TS/SCI
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • GIAC 8570/8140M – IAT III Compliant
  • Must be a US Citizen eligible for TESA status
  • Experience leading complex mission command engineering efforts
  • Experience supporting CDS solutions in a multi-domain environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or engineering field
  • Experience supporting Engineering and IT projects using the Agile methodology
  • Experience with system administration services for IT systems such as operation and maintenance, managing user accounts, file management, systems development, systems analysis services, automated information system (AIS) design and integration services, backup, recovery, security, and data conversion services.
  • Knowledge of DoD networking and IA policies and regulations
  • Experience providing storage system operations and operating server and storage appliances
  • Experience maintaining network domains, accounts, and associated documentation within file structure and associated tools
  • Communicate across communities with exceptional written and oral communications skills, including executive-level presentations
  • Proficient presentation skills for presentations to technical and non-technical audiences; must be able to translate technical terms and concepts to non-technical entities
  • Ability to exercise initiative, problem identification, problem solving and independent decision making
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, and experience with cross functional managements
