Position Summary: 

Forklift Operators are responsible for operating forklifts to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks into railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities. Receive inbound products (including rail cars), replenish, and pull product utilizing forklifts and powered material handling equipment. 

  

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: 

  • Operate industrial vehicles and equipment 
  • Safely and accurately receive inbound products (including rail), replenish inventory as needed and pull product 
  • Load and unload designated trailers and/or route trucks 
  • Utilize various digital technologies or software such as bar code readers and RF Scanners 
  • Recognize and correct potential process errors before actions adversely affect the customer 
  • Recognize damaged product at any point in the warehousing process and take appropriate action when discovered 
  • Perform basic sanitation duties to maintain a clean and safe environment 
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures 
  • Other projects or duties as assigned 

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Must be at least 18 years old 
  • 6 months prior warehouse forklift experience 
  • 6 months of related experience (i.e. working in a distribution warehouse environment, roofer, farmhand, grocery dock, construction, manipulating patients in a hospital/nursing home or physical therapy environment, or other positions which require continuous heavy lifting which deals with multi-temperature) 
  • Forklift certification is required or obtained immediately upon hire 
  • Ability to operate a manual / powered pallet jack or lift product 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail 
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer background check and drug test  

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) 
  • Forklift Certification 
  • Experience working in a high-speed industrial environment or foodservice distribution center 

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

  • Frequently stand, walk, reach with hands and arms. 
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 – 100 pounds.
