Job Description
The Thrust Vector Control (TVC) Systems Integration and Components Development Propulsion Team is seeking a TVC Systems Integration and Components Engineer to work onsite at Marshall Space Flight Center.
Activities may include but not be limited to:
· Provide TVC Hydraulic Actuator and Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) / Controller expertise to NASA’s Propulsion Department.
· Provide TVC Electro-Mechanical Actuator and Controller expertise to NASA’s Propulsion Department.
· Provide TVC experience related to design, analysis, APU and controller integration and development/verification testing, launch support, and evaluation.
· Evaluate and provide comments to design requirements, hardware/software configurations, performance characteristics, launch/test conditions, launch/test telemetry, operations and maintenance documents, launch commit criteria, post flight analysis.
· Develop control strategies for electromechanical systems.
· Design algorithms, implement feedback control loops and develop software interfaces to regulate system behavior.
· Provide oversight or insight for commercial partner TVC hydraulic systems designs during reviews and other activities with an understanding of hydrazine and gaseous hydrogen powered turbopumps.
· Participate in anomaly and failure investigation teams and identify and pursue resolution of issues.
· Create or review specifications for in-house and purchased hardware.
· Create test plans and oversee qualification testing.
· Analyze test and flight data and create performance reports and deliver results with recommendations.
· Perform “hands-on” test preparation for TVC assembly in a lab environment.
· Provide updates to Program Management periodically.

Job Requirements:
A degree in Engineering or related (STEM) field is required. A degree from an ABET-accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D. with a minimum 14 years of experience; MS with at least 18 years of experience, or a BS with at least 20 years of experience.
Required Experience / Skills:
Experience in the following areas:
· Relevant experience in the design areas of hydraulic actuators, auxiliary power units, controllers, hydraulic pumps, electro-mechanical actuators, avionics, power systems, and actuator mechanisms.
· Working knowledge of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control techniques relative to components, tubes, and/or welded hardware.
· Knowledge of sealing materials for aerospace components.
· Experience with test and evaluation of aerospace components.
· Experience with Program Logic Controllers and Field Programmable Logic Arrays.
Desired Experience / Skills:
· Working knowledge of component design such as actuators, mechanisms, valves, bellows, tubes, latches and pressurized components, LVDT’s, aerospace hardware.
· Knowledge of NASA and/or aerospace design and construction standards or relevant industry standards.
· Experience with launch vehicle or ground cryogenic and pressure systems.
· Experience with Shuttle and SRB TVC Systems
· Supplier management involving sourcing components.
· Experience with Matlab, Simulink, LabView, WinPlot.
· Experience in 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred).
· Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
· Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
Travel:
· Up to 10% of time.
