POSITION:Title I SwoopParaprofessional
REPORTS TO:Title I Coordinator
HOURS OF WORK:Varies by position (26-29 hours per week)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The role of a Title I Paraprofessional is to provide additional support to elementary students in the areas of math and reading using special strategies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work with individual children or small groups of children to reinforce skills in mathematics and/or reading
- Implementing special strategies for reinforcing skills based on the special needs and abilities of each child
- Prepare materials and activities that support learning growth for the students in the area of mathematics and/or reading
- Model positive behavior
- Monitor children to ensure a safe and effective learning environment
- Participate in staff in-service when directed by Title I Coordinator(s)
- Help to maintain a clean and organized learning environment
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent and current Indiana Paraprofessional Certificate.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:Must be willing to submit to continuing training as required by the State, school or the local Special Education Cooperative to maintain the position.
EXPERIENCE: Related job field work experience with demonstrated ability to work without constant supervision and an interest in educating children.
REQUIRED PHYSICAL SKILLS:Ability to sit, stand, walk, ascend/descend stairs, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk and hear.
REQUIRED GENERAL SKILLS:Exceptional written and oral communication skills; ability to process tasks using internal software, internet and generally accepted office software such as word and excel.
