We are seeking a seasoned Controller to take charge of financial operations for a dynamic portfolio of companies. This leadership role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in accounting, finance, and real estate, who excels in a high-energy, collaborative environment. The Controller will play a vital role in optimizing financial systems, maintaining operational excellence, and driving the organization’s ongoing growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the accounting functions .
- Lead, mentor, and guide a team of property accountants and accounting managers, fostering growth and development.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Accounting Operations to ensure efficient management of accounts payable processes.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes for both owned and managed properties.
- Review and approve complex journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Enhance internal controls and implement industry best practices for financial systems and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for stakeholders, including property owners and investment partners.
- Provide training and support to property management teams, improving their understanding of accounting processes and procedures.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to analyze property performance, informing budgeting and operational strategies.
- Manage cash flow across the portfolio, ensuring adequate resources for day-to-day operations and debt obligations.
• Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to drive process improvements and implement organizational changes.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and compliance standards.
• Familiarity with financial management systems, preferably Yardi or RealPage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience within real estate or related sectors.
