Are you looking to get started or advance your healthcare career?  Cole Place, a Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation facility located in Coudersport, PA is currently seeking Nurse Aide Trainees (NA Trainees) to join our team!  This is a paid training and UPMC will cover the costs associated with becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

  • The Green Home_ July 10th, 2024
  • Muncy Place_ September 11th, 2024
  • The Green Home_ October 16th, 2024
  • Muncy Place_ November 20th, 2024

This is a paid 16-day training program. Students will be hired as NA Trainees while attending the training.  Upon successful completion of the training candidates will complete a four (4) week orientation at their hired location. NA Trainees will move into CNA positions after completing the training and successfully passing the CNA assessment.

Interested candidates must be able to complete the 16-day training which is full time, day shift at our Wellsboro, PA  and Muncy, PA locations, and commit to a CNA position with Cole Place after completion.  Don’t delay, submit your application today to get started or advance your healthcare career as space is limited!

C.N.A trainee must maintain confidentiality of information at all times.  Employee must maintain performance levels that support the mission and philosophy of UPMC Senior Communities.  Follow Resident Rights policies at all times.  Consistently work cooperatively and pleasantly with all staff, residents, family members and Nursing Assistant Instructor.  Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.  Assume accountability for information contained in the trainee contract and policies.  Follow established performance standards and performs according to nursing service policies and procedures.  Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures  Maintain educational competency  Attend a minimum of 12 hours continuing education per year after the three week training course is completed.

Reports needed repair or hazards to charge nurse immediately. Attends to comfort of residents at all times and provide a home-like, clean and safe environment. Dresses residents for the day in appropriate clothing. Makes visitors welcome.  Refers families to charge nurse for answers to medical questions. Assists residents with ambulation and transport to and from other departments and activities. Assists with resident rehabilitation in areas such as bowel and bladder training, range of motion, ambulation training, speech therapy, etc. as ordered on a daily basis. Communicates with residents during daily care about things of interest to them. Answer call bells promptly, and provides residents with the assistance they need. Encourages residents to participate in recreational activities. Cares for the resident’s units including making of bed, cleaning top of night stand, over-bed table, etc., after AM and PM patient care. Assists with activities as assigned. Cleans commode chairs, urinals, etc. after each use and before returning to proper storage. Removes soiled linens and garments to the proper areas as needed.  Does not overload hampers. Attends all mandatory education in-services. Maintain universal precautions at all time.  Practices techniques, proper hand washing, catheter care, and other such functions related to daily care. Performs other duties as assigned by charge nurse. Turns, repositions all bed and wheelchair residents as needed. Checks all incontinent residents routinely and provide necessary follow-up care. Demonstrates knowledge and application of State and Federal regulations. Demonstrate the UPMC Values and be pleasant and able to get along well with others.  Courteous and outgoing.  Honest and dependable. 

The NA Trainee – Apprentice will be responsible for performing indirect care functions as assigned by nursing leadership until formal completion of Nurse Aide Training Certification Education Program (NATCEP) class.

To perform duties under the direction and supervision of the unit supervisor.  To enhance/ maintain the resident’s quality of life by providing for and caring for the residents’ physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Make walking rounds with oncoming and outgoing NA’s (beginning and end of each shift. Provides total resident care including such areas as bathing, oral care, feeding, Enemas, skin care, nail care, shampoo, vital signs, weights, etc. Reports abnormal findings to charge nurse immediately. Document resident care on appropriate forms at the end of each shift. Delivers and collects meal trays.  Assists residents with meals as needed.  Encourages residents to complete meals. Passes nourishments between meals and assist those who need it. Fills water pitchers. Makes rounds and check on assigned residents every two hours on 7-3 and 3-11, and every one hour on 11-7 shift.  Keeps residents free from physical and psychological abuse. Maintains a safe environment, free of hazards, at all times.  Cleans spills immediately.  

Qualifications:

Educational/Knowledge Requirements for a CNA/NA Trainee:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Successful completion of nursing assistant training program.
  • Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques. 
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • May in the course of their job duties be in rooms where medications are stored.  No contact with medications is allowed. In the course of duties may be asked to distribute medications to the nurse at the bedside.  Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.

Licensure/Certification:  

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days or hire if entering a position as part of CNA training program, employee has 120 days to obtain CNA
