Position Summary

The Senior Microsoft Systems Administrator is HIGHLY SKILLED in all areas of Microsoft based technologies.

The Senior Microsoft System Administrator will be responsible for designing, planning and implementing high level as well as departmental projects with little or no supervision. Such projects include, but are not limited to e-mail, application virtualization, remote access, file and print services, Active Directory, as well as implementation and support of payroll, manufacturing and sales programs. Additionally, this position will be responsible to research, evaluate and recommend software, hardware or cloud technologies that will support business needs.

Interaction with different business groups is vital within this role and requires an understanding of multiple business segments and IT's impact on their functions (e.g. Healthcare, LifeScience and Contract Sterilization, finance, regulatory and audit). Professionalism and cooperation when working with customers, team members and management is essential.

A Senior Microsoft System Administrator is also responsible for providing escalation support and troubleshooting for incidents reported by system monitoring, change requests, users support tickets or networking with IT peers. It will be necessary to offer afterhours support as needed, especially when on-call rotation is assigned.

Duties

Infrastructure System Design and Build - 55%


Designs, configures and implements departmental I.T. technology systems.
Researches, evaluates and recommends software, hardware and cloud technologies.
Performs testing and evaluation, including development lab activities for new technology solutions.
Interfaces with software vendors and internal accounting department to facilitate the purchase of hardware and software.
Configures and installs software for systems, applications and servers including, but not limited to, server operating systems, virtual servers, virtual applications, e-mail systems, file and print systems, virus defense, web services and remote access.
Configures and installs system hardware such as servers, backup systems, load balancing appliances, disk drives, storage area networks and appliances.

Infrastructure Operational Support - 25%


Performs system administration functions such as Active Directory maintenance, DNS changes, server permissions, server log management, email system administration, print queue management, web server support.
Maintain standardization and documentation of technology and processes.
Develops and implements training plans to support applications as required.
Troubleshoot and resolve problems with system configurations and hardware.
Provide escalation support for System Administrators.
Provide technical support and maintenance of I.T. systems.

Project Management - 20%


Will serve as the project lead on technical projects based on the business plan.
Create and submit proposals andimplement approved project plans.
Develops and submits budget proposals and funding requests.

Education Degree

Required Experience


Four-year degree in Information Technology or equivalent vocational field is preferred.
Microsoft Azure AZ-900 certification is preferred.
VMware VCP 7.0 certification is preferred.
At least five years full time experience or equivalent on the job training is required.

System administration of Cisco, Dell, HP hardware.
System and application administration with Microsoft and VMware required.

At least three years in departmental application administration (e.g. Web applications, administration of .Net Applications and SQL/Oracle based applications).
At least two years in Cloud Administration using Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions.
Vendor training in application/system technologies. Microsoft or VMware certifications preferred.

Preferred Experience

Strong professional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with little supervision and within changing priorities. Proficiency in Business Acumen.

Technical proficiency - HIGHLY SKILLED.
