We are looking for:


A control engineer to maintain and develop the process control systems (hardware & software) at the Oldbury site

We count on you for:

  • Maintenance of the hardware and network infrastructure of the process control systems to ensure no disruption to plant operations
  • Maintenance & troubleshooting of the control software to minimize plant downtime and delays
  • Configuration and testing of the software trips, interlocks and alarms in the control system in compliance with the company and UK HSE requirements
  • Development of the control software to improve operability and/or productivity
  • Installation and configuration of control systems associated with new projects
  • Training site staff in control system operation

You will bring:

  • Mininmum 2 years experience in DCS programming and hardware, ideally in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • Experience on ABB 800xA is desirable, as is experience on ABB System 6, ABB Sattline
  • Experience in batch operation and processes
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject (engineering, IT, electronics)
  • Knowledge of industry legislation and standards relating to control systems (IEC 61508/61511, EEMUA guidelines on alarm systems)
  • An ability for work with personnel at all levels of the organization, technical and operational, to understand the requirements of the control system
