Join us as we seek a<strong> Controller</strong> to oversee our institution's financial strategies and operations.<br><br>The <strong>Controller </strong>leads all financial, accounting, and treasury operations within the institution, shaping financial policies and standards, overseeing accounting processes for both unrestricted and restricted funds, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing, and guiding annual budget management. This role also entails responsibility for internal and external financial reporting, coordinating annual financial audits, and collaborating with departments across the institution.<br><br><strong>Position Responsibilities:</strong><br><br><strong>Financial Management and Oversight:</strong><br><ul> <li>Direct supervision of the Assistant Controller, Purchasing Director, and Payroll Supervisor.</li> <li>Provide leadership, mentoring, and assistance in the management and daily operations of the Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Purchasing functions.</li> <li>Management of the Institute's General Ledger and ensure compliance with accounting standards.</li> <li>Management of cash activities and investment recording.</li> <li>Accurate preparation and timely submission of financial reports to external sources.</li> <li>Completion and submission of annual IRS Form 990.</li> <li>Supervise the year-end closing of the General Ledger Accounts.</li> <li>Oversee the activity of the Perkins loan program.</li> <li>Supervise preparation of quarterly financial statements.</li> <li>Oversee restricted account activity.</li> </ul> <br><strong>Audit and Compliance:</strong><br><ul> <li>Responsible for the management and coordination of the annual year-end financial audit.</li> <li>Coordinate the annual 403(b) plan audit.</li> <li>Ensure investment activity is appropriately recorded.</li> <li>Interact with various departments, vendors, and financial institutions regarding accounting matters.</li> <li>Interface with Student Financial Services to ensure accurate reporting.</li> <li>Develop and implement appropriate accounting policies and procedures.</li> </ul> <br><strong>Budgeting and Planning:</strong><br><ul> <li>Lead the budget team in preparation of the annual operating budget.</li> <li>Prepare and monitor the annual budgets for the Controller's office and Purchasing.</li> <li>Develop and implement changes to improve daily operations.</li> <li>Lead the implementation of new technology and systems.</li> </ul> <br><strong>Collaboration and Leadership:</strong><br><ul> <li>Collaborate with departments across the institution.</li> <li>Attend Finance and Audit Committee meetings.</li> <li>Participate in/supervise hiring and training of new staff in the Controller's department.</li> <li>Act as a resource to the committees on budget, cash flow, financial position, and compliance.</li> </ul><br><br><b>Qualifications:</b><br><strong>Education: </strong>Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Fi
