Job Description: Payroll Administrator (Contract-to-Hire)
We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Administrator to join our team in the automotive industry, located in North Charleston, South Carolina. This role starts as a contract position with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role. As a Payroll Administrator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of payroll data while supporting human resources administration. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage a variety of tasks while maintaining confidentiality in dealing with sensitive employee and company information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and maintain payroll data, including working hours, sales volume, bonuses, commissions, and employee tax and benefit contributions (Source: RH Acronym Guide).
- Verify and apply updates to payroll records, such as tax exemptions, insurance coverage, and changes from compensation, promotions, or transfers (Source: RH Acronym Guide).
- Review wages and deductions for accuracy and ensure proper posting in payroll systems (Source: RH Acronym Guide).
- Handle paychecks upon request and prepare periodic reports detailing earnings, taxes, and deductions (Source: RH Acronym Guide).
- Process hiring and termination paperwork, including COBRA compliance, and maintain records for vacation and sick-day eligibility (Source: RH Acronym Guide).
- Administer affirmative action programs, file annual EEO-1 and related logs, and ensure ACA compliance (Source: RH Acronym Guide).
- Maintain accurate employee records, including payroll compliance, benefit class, and information updates (Source: RH Acronym Guide).
- Support company benefits administration by addressing enrollment inquiries, resolving claims, and assisting during open enrollment periods (Source: RH Acronym Guide).
- Manage workers’ compensation injury claims, including reporting to insurers and monitoring case progress (Source: RH Acronym Guide).
- Respond to inquiries from governmental agencies regarding salaries, benefits, and related information in a timely manner (Source: RH Acronym Guide).
Qualifications:
- Experience in payroll processing and human resources compliance.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Familiarity with payroll software and HR systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of COBRA, ACA, EEO compliance, and workers’ compensation procedures.

• Extensive experience with Full Cycle Payroll is necessary.
• Proficiency in Payroll management.
