JOB OVERVIEW

MartinFederal has an opening for an Engineer Technician I to join our team of talented and diverse individuals. This role will directly support the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives (ATF) within the Fire Research Lab performing exciting tasks such as crime scene mock-ups.

This position will provide semi-professional technical support for engineers working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, and/or manufacturing process improvement. Work will pertain to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs simple routine tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures. Work is checked in progress or on completion.

• Performs one or a combination of typical duties, such as:

  • Assemble or installing equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting.

  • Perform simple or routine tasks, tests such as tensile, or hardness tests; operating and adjusting simple test equipment; records test data.

  • Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.; performing computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas; plotting data and draws simple curves and graphs.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or G.E.D
• US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoJ security clearance
• At least 6 months of relevant technical experience
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to set priorities; manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; and the ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team.
• Required Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), experience is required to prepare documents, tables, briefings, and worksheets.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

• Laboratory setting.
• Be able to stand for long periods of time and operate several pieces of scientific equipment simultaneously.
• Be able to lift 50 pounds for a short period of time.
