Construction & Design Engineer I - Civil
Grant Engineering & Construction Group, LLC is seeking a highly talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Construction and Design Engineer I-Civil.

General Experience

· Must be willing to learn and embrace technology. Must be proficient in computers, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), and basic knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D.
· The candidate must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, ability to organize and prioritize in a fast pace environment, ability to independently execute without constant management, strong teamwork capability, and a willingness to learn and execute in short timeframes.
Construction Experience
· Able to conduct damage assessments of multifamily and single-family residential structures and prepare damage assessment reports.
· Able to prepare construction estimates for use in budgeting and funding allocation
· Able to prepare baseline and progress schedules for use by Construction Manager and Client.
· Able to review and evaluate Construction submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), Change Order Requests (CORs).
· Able to conduct construction progress inspections and prepare inspection reports for civil (roadway and drainage) and architectural (buildings) projects
· Able to provide Construction Quality Inspection reviews and notify Contractor of any observed deficiencies.
· Able to prepare weekly and monthly reports as required by the Construction Manager
· Able to prepare AutoCAD plans of existing and proposed conditions.
· Able to assist the Client and Construction Manager in applying for construction permits and scheduling inspections
· Able to review and prepare construction closeout packages including Operations and Maintenance manuals, warranty documents, maintenance bonds, and material information.
· Able to undertake any other construction inspection and management tasks assigned by the Construction Manager.
Design Experience
· CADD: At least three (3) months experience with Autodesk Civil 3D 2018 or later. Candidate must have some experience with:
o Importing survey points and creating surfaces.
o Creating roadway and utility profiles.
o Importing and Exporting between CADD and GIS
o Reading and interpret survey field notes, utilizing same to prepare surveys and site plans. Site plans will include; building placement, grading, utilities, storm sewers, roadways, easements, access drives, parking and so on in accordance with local zoning standards and internal company drafting standards.
· Stormwater Modeling and Design: At least (3) months experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for stormwater detention and drainage design. Experience can include academic experience/coursework.
· Permitting: Ability to prepare permit documents for Local, County, and State agencies. Strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills are a must for this requirement.
· Project Specifications: Ability to prepare technical specifications for projects where required based on State Specifications standards and/or Masterformat specifications standards. Strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills are a must for this requirement.
Minimum Education and Licenses
· Bachelor or Science degree in Civil Engineering required.
· Candidate with Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certificate highly desired.
Salary & Benefits
· Salary: $60,000 to $70,000 Annual Salary based on Education, Experience, and Licensure.

Location(s)
· Office is based in either St. Thomas or St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Weekly office attendance required for collaboration. Candidate will be required to provide engineering service for projects in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and US Virgin Islands.
· Site visits for meetings with Clients, design data acquisition, and construction observation will be required. Candidate may be stationed for some time at either a water or wastewater treatment facility as required by Client.
