Compensation: $21-$26 per hour

Organization Description:
Vecinos is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization that provides out-patient and mobile clinics with integrated primary and mental healthcare, health education, and case management to uninsured migrant and seasonal farmworkers and people in need of Spanish-language services. We offer a positive, supportive, and team-oriented atmosphere. We work in a non-traditional environment with limited resources. Schedules and hours vary throughout the year.
Purpose:
The Registered Nurse applies the nursing principles of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation for Vecinos patients and acts as a liaison between patients, their families, doctors, and health care teams. The ideal candidate is flexible, open to working in a changing environment, can commit to a growing practice, and has the desire to serve uninsured/underserved Latinx populations, specifically agricultural workers.
Job Responsibilities
Nursing Care
Demonstrate knowledge in medical care such as diagnostic procedures, medications, symptoms, and other treatment-related therapies.
Implement physician orders in clinic or outreach and other nursing procedures.
Clearly explain the reason for prescribed treatments and treatment plans to patients and families.
Ensure patient comprehension of medical encounters and physician’s plan of care.
Perform venipuncture, phlebotomy skills, point-of-care testing, electrocardiograms, and other provider orders as needed.
Perform health education on a variety of topics, including hypercholesterolemia, hypertension and diabetes, as well as others as needed.
Provide nursing care in both a traditional clinical setting in addition to outreach mobile clinic setting.
Team Participation
Coordinate with all clinic team members to ensure patient needs are adequately addressed and met.
Work collaboratively to achieve clinical quality measures.
Assist the Integrated Care Program Manager as needed with administrative, medical, and other tasks or projects.
Assist in pursuing the Vecinos mission and strategic plan.
Maintain an environment for open communication within Vecinos and with patients.
Required Qualifications
Native, or near-native English/Spanish fluency
Licensed registered nurse in the state of North Carolina and maintenance of appropriate certifications, including CPR
One year experience in a primary care setting
Able to work effectively as a team member and work closely with nurses, physicians, outreach staff, and other partners
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish
Cultural sensitivity, a caring and confident demeanor, flexibility, dependability, excellent written and verbal communication skills, high energy-level, willingness to work in a nontraditional/non-clinical setting, a professional attitude, desire to serve uninsured/underserved populations
